Book Visualization

Concept: Choose a reference book, a book that relates to your daily practice and work, in some significant way. Based on the book’s content, you will develop a custom visualization, a graphical interpretation, according to criteria that you will derive from that book: relational schematics, chronological timelines, topographic representations…

Technologies: Paper, Illustrator/PDF, html…

Software: Illustrator, InDesign, Inkscape…
Some examples of books that would offer worthwile material:
– Geert Lovink: Uncanny Networks (2004)
– Steward Home: The Assault on Culture (1988)
– Gene Youngblood: Expanded Cinema (1970)

Update:
A very similar workshop has been given by James Bridle at the School of Visual Arts in New York, 21st – 25th October 2012.
