About GitHub:

GitHub is a web-based hosting service for software development projects that use the Git revision control system (famously created by Linus Torvalds for Linux kernel development in 2005). GitHub started as a weekend project by developers Chris Wanstrath and Tom Preston-Werner, and was launched in April 2008. In September 2011, GitHub announced it had reached over 1 million users.
